And the Surgeon says…

Hi Everyone the surgeon says he got it all and the margins are good. whew! Ive been holding my breath and now I can breath again. I guess it’s considered Stage 1 cancer and I now I have to heal for 2 months and then have 3 weeks of radiation. Funny story. Headed out of my house to go see daughter Ashley’s teacher gifts she got from her students for the end of the school year. There was a Sealand seafood truck parked in front of the neighbours. As I was about to pass, the driver asked me if I was familiar with the name and could he show me his line of products. I ended up buying a case of lobster tails to celebrate 🎉 How fun is that! I truly want to say thanks for all the support everyone has shown me. I’ll keep up with the blog so keep checking in. Have a great weekend Mel🧑🏻‍🦰

Just a little check in

Heh Everbody Just checking in to let you know recovery ❤️‍🩹 is going well. Was going to wait till after I see the surgeon on Friday, to give an update but have been urged to do one now. Ive taken the bandages off and my incisions seems to have healed well. Still struggling not to use that arm to lift or reach. Arm exercises start after the surgeon signs off that I don’t need more surgery. The waiting game is the hardest. ( that and drinking 8-10 glasses of water a day) My mind wants to go down all kinds of rabbit holes. Ive read the findings in the AHS site and it looks like the margins were good but it’s written in “ Surgeonese” so I best wait to hear from him before I do my happy dance.💃 So many blessings have come my way these past few weeks. So many friends reaching out to me. Books dropped off to help me fill my time. Friends coming by for visits Friends taking me to the movies. Saw “ How to train your dragon” 🐉 It was awesome. Felt up to it so joined Art on a trip to Jasper. ...

One week after surgery

Hello friends and family. its been a week since surgery and Im ticking along not to badly. Another week to go before I see the surgeon and hear his findings. Ive been asked by a number of people for a recap of events prior to surgery so here goes. I retired from AMA on Feb 14 this year. The following week I had a routine Mamogram. They saw something so sent me for another one. Still weren’t liking something they were seeing so sent me for an Ultrasound. Before leaving this appointment they’d booked me for a biopsy the following week. Turned out to be cancer. Got the call March 20th 5 weeks into retirement. No symptoms no lumps. just to be sure I had to have a 2 nd biopsy on another site they were sure was just a cyst. It wasn’t. Then the waiting game began. Truly the hardest part. saw the surgeon with Art on Apr 30 Another week plus to get a surgery date of June 12Th The type of Breast cancer I have is Hormone positive. Theres more than one type, who knew! so I opted for two lumpectomi...

Lavender hospital gown

Hi everyone. still figuring this out. Just tried to put this latest edition into edit but it disappeared.👻 So a little sore today. I wanted to share about my surgery gown. First off it was lavender not hospital green. it was paper with Velcro for access to what every part they needed access to. Down around my right knee on the gown there was a quick coupler for a heat tube if I wanted. It filled the gown with warm air. I said I wanted the full Spa experience. They gave me a control to heat the interior or cool it. How fun is that! Everyone was so nice. And funny. Im very glad I live in Canada. Our health care might not be perfect but they sure have looked after me along this journey. Chat soon. Mel🧑🏻‍🦰
